José Ferreirós

José Ferreirós is Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of Seville. Currently, he works as a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the CSIC (Madrid). He is Principal Investigator of the project of excellence of the Junta de Andalucía “Studies on History and Philosophy of Physical Sciences and Mathematics”, that integrates a multidisciplinary and international team. He is Founder Member of the Association for the Philosophy of Mathematical Practice (APMP) and Member of the Committee for Logic in Europe belonging to the Association of Symbolic Logic (ASL), of the Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences, and foreign member of Équipe REHSEIS (CNRS, París) devoted to the investigation of History and Epistemology of Sciences. Above all, he works on the history of Modern Mathematics (1800-1950), Philosophy and Epistemology of Mathematics. He also devotes himself to some aspects of the History and Philosophy of Physics, as well as general questions of Philosophy of Science, including the analysis of experimental activity. In 2006, with with J.J. Gray, he was Editor of Architecture of modern mathematics. Essays in History and Philosophy, Oxford University Press.
