Mohsen Fathi accomplished his B.Sc. in solid state physics, followed by a Master's degree and a PhD in Gravitation and Cosmology. His main research interest is the congruence evolution and geometrical aspects of black holes and cosmological apparent horizons in general relativity and modified gravity. He is also interested in analog gravity, specially dielectric analogs and their relations to Transformation Optics. Accordingly, He has worked on optical cloaking effects in curved background spacetimes. His recent publications include generalizations to the Raychaudhuri equation, even ina general electromagnetic medium.
