Katerina Perdikaki completed her PhD with a research on “Adaptation as Translation: Examining Film Adaptation as a Recontextualised Act of Communication” at University of Surrey in 2016. Her thesis examined the transfer of novels to films as a modality of translation. The main findings of the study pointed to the creativity and re–interpretive activity involved in film adaptation and highlighted the importance of adaptation and translation in the creative industries.Currently, she teaches Audiovisual Translation and Specialist Translation from English into Greek at University of Surrey. She is a freelance subtitler and she is also involved in the membership committee of the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS).
