Vittorio Merlo is Senior Research Assistant and Lecturer at the Università di Roma Tor Vergata. He started his research studying particle emission from thermonuclear plasmas (1982-1987), then properties of condensed matter by means of scattering techniques. In 1992 he moved on to study the dynamics of flux quanta in superconductors, also showing an interest in the interpretation of experiments on the foundations of quantum mechanics. Then he participated in a still ongoing collaboration aiming at studying Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) phenomena in 2D superconducting arrays.
In the past few years, he developed an original concept of a thermal neutron superconducting detector. Recently he also started a collaboration with the DAMA experiment, taking an active part in all the group research activities.
