John Douthwaite holds the Chair of English Linguistics at the University of Genoa. He was formerly professor of English at the University of Cagliari, where he also directed the Language Centre. He has been a member of the Editorial Board of Textus and continues to be on the Editorial Board of Englishes. He has published widely nationally and internationally on stylistics, postcolonial studies, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, language variety, language acquisition and language teaching.
