Patrick Urru is a librarian and researcher specializing in oral history and archival studies. He holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Bologna (2007), an MA in Cultural Anthropology, Ethnology, and Anthropological Linguistics from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (2018), and a Ph.D. in Archival Science, Bibliography, and Librarianship (M-STO/08) from the University of Trento (2023). His doctoral research focused on the video interview collection of the Oral History Archive at the Italian Provincial Library “Claudia Augusta” in Bolzano, where he has been working as a librarian since 2008.
He is President of the Trentino–South Tyrol Branch of the Italian Library Association (AIB), and actively engaged in international professional networks. He currently serves as Secretary of the Library Theory and Research Section and as Italy’s representative in the Europe Division of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). His work bridges library science, cultural anthropology, and digital oral history, with a focus on the preservation and accessibility of born-digital archives.
