Annegret Hagenberg

I qualified as a physiotherapist in Munich in 1988, specialised in Manual Therapy (Kaltenborn-Evjenth Concept) and Adult Bobath (IBITAH), and in 2012 obtained an MSc in Physiotherapy from Coventry University.I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and of the International Association for the Study of Pain and Vice-Chair of the Physiotherapy Research Society. I also work as a Research Physiotherapist at the University Hospitals at Leicester NHS Trust and as a private physiotherapist for unusual cases in pain management and neurology.I started my research at the University of Leicester in 2012 and worked in Medical Humanities and the Research and Enterprise Division. My research interests span the use of visual illusions to tackle pain, motor and sensory impairment, and to understand its components such as sensory changes and motor memory in pain and neurological conditions. This involves bridging the gaps between research and practice and between disciplines on an international level. I use knowledge transfer between research and practice and I aim for high impact on society, especially those distressed by pain and functional loss.
