Alexei Blednykh is working in the accelerator physics group of the National Synchrotron Light Source-II project of the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). To avoid single bunch instabilities in the future 3GeV NSLS-II storage ring Alexei Blednykh analyzes wakefields and impedances produced by the storage ring components and their effect on the beam dynamics. He interacts with RF, Diagnostics and Vacuum groups to provide input and feedback on the development of vacuum chamber components. In April, 2004 Alexei Blednykh joined Brookhaven National Laboratory to work on the impedance budget for the future NSLS-II storage ring. Prior to coming to the BNL, Alexei Blednykh was a Ph.D. student at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. He was involved in the design of a 30 GHz planar constant impedance travelling-wave structure. Alexei Blednykh started his professional career in the Moscow State Engineering Physics Institute (Technical University), in Russia. He worked on damping of higher order modes in a 7-cell TESLA Accelerating Structure in the Radio Frequency group (RF-group) of the Automatics and Electronics department (A-department). This work was custom-built at the DESY laboratory.
