Barbara Veit was born in Germany. She got the degree in philosophy in Grenoble, and in Mathematics in Rome. There she started teaching as an assistant of Lucio Lombardo Radice, and simultaneously began an intensive scientific collaboration with Gonzalo Reyes (Montreal) in the field of Categorical Logic. She works at the University of Rome Tor Vergata since the year of it’s foundation in 1983. She has the chair of Mathematical Logic, and passionately teaches students that there is a great difference between Truth and Provability, and that Set Theory is not unique... Her research slowly shifted from Logic to Algebraic Topology, partly in collaboration with Sandro Buoncristiano, partly alone. And a text book on Logic is close to publication.
