Alexandra MASSINI si è formata in Italia e in Germania prima di trasferirsi nel Regno Unito, dove si è laureata in Storia dell’Arte presso il Courtauld Institute of Art e ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca presso l’Università di Warwick.
Dopo vent’anni di insegnamento presso campus universitari americani con sede in Italia e dieci anni nel ruolo di direttore accademico, nel 2023 è entrata a far parte dell’Accademia Vivarium novum di Frascati dove insegna storia dell’arte ed è responsabile di conferenze e programmi internazionali di studi artistici, classici e umanistici. Specializzata nella ricezione dell’antichità classica, si occupa anche di mecenatismo e auto-rappresentazione femminile tra Cinque e Seicento, e dell’uso integrato di arte e architettura in contesti pubblici.
Oltre all’attività accademica, Alexandra Massini è consulente per documentari d’arte e storia (produzioni RAI e BBC), collabora con gallerie d’arte pubbliche e private e conduce visite specializzate per istituzioni ed eventi di rilievo (tra cui il G20 tenutosi a Roma). In passato ha scritto per Blue Guides, ha collaborato con il Museo Thyssen di Madrid e la casa d’aste Sotheby’s a Roma e ha organizzato eventi e convegni su larga scala.
Alexandra MASSINI was raised in Italy and Germany before moving to the U.K. where she earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the Courtauld Institute of Art, and a Ph.D. in the History of Art from the University of Warwick.
After two decades of teaching for north-American university programs in Italy, and ten years in the role of Director of Academic Affairs at the Rome office of CEA and CEA CAPA, in 2023 Alexandra moved to the Accademia Vivarium novum, where she teaches art history and is responsible for international programs in classics and humanities. She also continues to teach for U.S. programs, both at undergraduate and graduate level, in the Rome campuses of Duquesne University and the School of Architecture of the University of Notre Dame. Her research areas include the reception of classical antiquity, the intersection and use of art and architecture in public spaces, female patronage and self-fashioning in the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Aside from her academic activity, Alexandra works as consultant and speaker for documentaries on art and history, collaborates with public and private art collections, and conducts specialized visits for governmental institutions and events (including the G20 held in Rome). In the past she has written for Blue Guides and has published her own guide book to Rome, has worked for the Thyssen Museum in Madrid and Sotheby’s Auctioneers in Rome and has organized large scale events for international investor groups.
